These Rear Guard Bars are designed to work in conjunction with the Ilium Works K1600GTL|K1600GT Engine Guards to offer the best overall protection for your K1600 in the event of a drop or tip over. These can also be used in conjunction with other manufacturer’s engine guard bars as well. These bars are constructed of heavy wall (1” X .120” ) steel tubing and TIG welded to 7 ga. cold rolled steel brackets. After shot blasting with stainless steel media, these bars are powder coated for a durable and trouble free finish in either Iron Glimmer to complement the frame colors, or Satin Black for a more subtle look. Carefully designed to help protect your expensive panniers and mufflers, these minimalist design bars will not interfere with passenger comfort or the clean lines of your K1600 BMW.

These look to be built well, but not to a high tolerance. During construction there is a part that needs to be bent and apparently that doesn’t alway happen right. I had to put some spacers on the left side and had to have the right side replaced, because it didn’t fit at all. Sierra would not help me with the replacement and directed me to Ilium Works. Ilium was very easy to work with. With how they are connected to the bike I am not sure how effective they will be.
These were easy to install although the packaging was mislabeled - with the label telling me to install the first bar on the wrong side. I do wish the color had better matched to the color of the other accessories - they a bit too gray. They look good on the Bike and are functional.
